(Buffalo, N.Y.) – The SUNY Buffalo State men’s hockey team is coming off a historic season and is looking to take this season to the next level.

Steve Murphy took over the reigns as head coach earlier this year, as he led the hockey team last season to a record 15 wins and led the team to host a playoff game for the first time in program history.

Murphy sat down with The Buffalo Review’s Jacob Fyock and described what is in store this season for the hockey team.

Murphy said he is looking forward to see how the players will come together and how they will be able to help each other out throughout the season.

“I know the guys we have coming back and I know the recruits that we brought in, we brought in a big recruiting class, 12 freshman and one transfer,” he said. “I’m excited to get on and work with them, I know a little bit of our makeup, but we’ll see how it all kinda comes together here with the first couple weeks of practice.”

Now going into his second year, Murphy wants to win the SUNYAC Conference Championship and become the first team in program history to play in the NCAA Division III hockey tournament.
