(Buffalo, NY) – With changes made to the housing policy at SUNY Buffalo State, students will soon have another option when looking for a place to live off campus.
The new $25 million Monarch 716 housing complex is located at 100 Forest Ave., just a mile away from the Buffalo State campus.
“I would definitely define us as lifestyle and a community coming to Buffalo. It’s something new, different and unique for the students,” said Bre Wiggins, general manager of Monarch 716.
He said the complex is intended to attract students from Buffalo State and surrounding colleges, but it will also be open to non-students.
The complex will be equipped with a number of amenities, including a computer lab, fitness center, swimming pool and bowling alley. It will also feature on site parking and 24-hour emergency maintenance.
There are three different floors plans available, including two or four bedroom options with prices ranging from $765 to $820 per person per month.
Ozzy Corpus, operations specialist for Monarch 716, says all of the units come fully furnished.
“Inside each room you get a bed, desk with a desk chair and a chester drawer. In the apartment, you get all stainless steel appliances, washer and dryer and a 50-inch flat screen television,” said Corpus.
Wiggins said the complex will work with students who receive financial aid.
“We have to call the financial aid addendum,” said Wiggins. “We understand that students are in school, so you have scholarships and loans that can pay for these things.”
Wiggins said student’s will have to pay their first month’s rent before moving in, but Monarch 716 will defer the rest of the rent until a student’s financial aid is received.
Monarch is now leasing units, but construction on the complex will not be finished until August.
