SUNY Buffalo State holds student-guided campus tours throughout the year that allows visitors to experience the college in person. The tours offer a chance for perspective students and their parents to hear what a student currently enrolled at Buffalo State has to say about their experience at the college.
A number student organizations at SUNY Buffalo State teamed up to decorate cars and trucks for the annual homecoming float competition. The organizations that participated included United Students Government, the African American Student Organization, BEST Buddies and Casting Hall Productions.
SUNY Buffalo State’s African American Student Organization (AASO) is turning 50 this year and to celebrate the group hosted a week of events starting Nov. 12. AASO, which was founded in 1967, is recognized as the oldest organization on the Buffalo State campus.
Buffalo State hosted the eighth annual SUNYWide Film Festival Nov. 9-11, which was the first time the event was held in Buffalo. The festival was launched in 2009 to highlight the film and video work of students and faculty in the SUNY system. To date, more than 900 students have submitted films and videos to compete in the festival.
The eighth annual SUNYWide Film Festival provided attendees with a number of professional development opportunities. In addition to the film screenings, there were a number of workshops on topics such as storytelling, animation, camera techniques and film scoring. Thilo Schaller, an assistant professor of music at Buffalo State, hosted a workshop on the tempo and timing of music in film.

Student loan debt in the U.S. is now the country’s largest outstanding debt held by Americans, surpassing both credit card and auto loan debt. Student debt in the U.S. is currently estimated at $1.4 trillion up from $1.2 trillion dollars in 2014.
