Buffalo’s first cat cafes will open later this year. Molly Hutton plans to open Buckminster’s Cat Cafe on Niagara Street at the end of 2018 and a second establishment, Purrfect Cafe and Gallery, is expected to open on Hertel Avenue. Hutton said the idea for Buckminster’s was inspired by her life-long love of cats and her brother’s travels in Asia. Continue reading

Buffalo to administer firefighter exam in 2018
The city of Buffalo is offering opportunities for anyone looking to become a firefighter, as the city’s firefighter exam is being offered in 2018. The test, which is only offered every four years, will be administered May 1 and applications must be submitted by April 9. Gutter Pop Comics and Sugar City joined together to host their annual fall Zine Fair Nov. 4. A zine is a small, noncommercial and homemade magazine or similar type of media produced by an individual or small group. Gallery: Images from the SUNYWide Film Festival
Buffalo State hosted the eighth annual SUNYWide Film Festival Nov. 9-11, which was the first time the event was held in Buffalo. The festival was launched in 2009 to highlight the film and video work of students and faculty in the SUNY system.
