Gallery: Images from the SUNYWide Film Festival

Buffalo State hosted the eighth annual SUNYWide Film Festival Nov. 9-11, which was the first time the event was held in Buffalo. The festival was launched in 2009 to highlight the film and video work of students and faculty in the SUNY system. To date, more than 900 students have submitted films and videos to compete in the festival. Continue reading

The eighth annual SUNYWide Film Festival provided attendees with a number of professional development opportunities. In addition to the film screenings, there were a number of workshops on topics such as storytelling, animation, camera techniques and film scoring. Thilo Schaller, an assistant professor of music at Buffalo State, hosted a workshop on the tempo and timing of music in film. Continue reading

Buffalo State men’s hockey looking to replace leadership from last year’s team

The Buffalo State men’s hockey team is looking to build off a winning season last year, where they compiled a record of 18-8-1 and eventually lost to Oswego in the SUNY Athletic Conference tournament. Head coach Steve Murphy, who is entering his third season at Buffalo State, is trying to replace some key players who graduated last year, including goaltender Mike DeLaVergne, who will play professionally this year in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
