Some Buffalo State students are becoming more concerned about their safety, due to the increase of crimes on campus this semester. In the past few months, several crimes were reported on campus. These incidents include a sexual assault case and armed robberies.

Lawsuit latest action in dispute between Seneca Nation and state
The Seneca Nation of Indians filed a lawsuit earlier this month against New York, claiming the state broke federal law and failed to receive federal approval when it built a toll road through its territory. The Thruway was built 60 years ago and a 2.7-mile section of the road runs through the Seneca Nation’s territory in southern Erie County. Continue reading
New York studying legalization of marijuana
New York is currently studying the possibility of legalizing recreational use of marijuana as neighboring states, such as Massachusetts and Vermont, have already done so. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the study is examining the health, legal and economic effects of legalization in nearby states. Continue reading
Volunteers help clean up Grant Street
Assemblyman Sean Ryan and Niagara District Councilman David Rivera hosted a Grant Street cleanup April 14, intended to remove loose trash in the neighborhood. Buffalo State professor hopeful for the future of Common Core
Earlier this month, New York students in grades 3-8 began taking the state assessment tests for English language arts (ELA) and Math, which are based on national Common Core standards.
