Buffalo State study abroad opportunities expand to Cuba
SUNY Buffalo State has signed a memo of understanding with Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas (UCLV) in Santa Clara, Cuba to begin a partnership to create study abroad opportunities between the two schools. New York’s Domestic Violence Task Force released a report February, detailing the prevalence of domestic violence in the state and proposing legislative changes to improve resources for victims of domestic violence. First cat cafes to open in Buffalo
Buffalo’s first cat cafes will open later this year. Molly Hutton plans to open Buckminster’s Cat Cafe on Niagara Street at the end of 2018 and a second establishment, Purrfect Cafe and Gallery, is expected to open on Hertel Avenue. Hutton said the idea for Buckminster’s was inspired by her life-long love of cats and her brother’s travels in Asia. Continue reading

Professional gamers could form a players union for eSports
Two separate groups are in talks to create a players association for professional eSports players, centered around two of the most popular games: “Overwatch” and “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.” The NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL all have players unions that provide representation and a way for players to collectively bargain with their respective professional leagues.
